I have a Tascam US2x2 USB interface, and Windows 7 64-BIT. I have downloaded all the newest drivers for the interface. But Reaper and Sonar LE will not use the device for recording though I have added it according to all documentation I could find. Any suggestions for configurations I should try or other ideas???

Thanks.

How old are your versions of Reaper and Sonar LE?

I would assume you are configuring it as an ASIO device in these applications?

I just downloaded them yesterday. Reaper is v4.78/x64 and Sonar LE (build317-x64). Yes, I have configured as an ASIO device, did that first. And when that didn't work I tried some of the other configurations. Still no luck.

Thanks.

Is the Tascam coming up as an audio device in the Preferences/Options drop-down menu?

Yes, it does show up in the Preferences/Options drop-down menu. The error message I get is: "There was an error while opening your audio hardware. Error initializing buffers."

Are you getting Windows playback audio? Able to play a music file in windows media player?

I tried the Reaper reset....no luck. And to answer Pinky...I am able to play a music file in the Windows Media Player.

When you go into Control Panel-->Sound and click the Recording tab at the top, what do you see?

Sound.webp

You should be able to click the sound device and click properties at the bottom...

An oldie but sometime goody....Clean out all the Tascam software (would not hurt to run Ccleaner reg cleaner as well) then go to Device Manager and disable (not uninstall) the On Board Soundcard.

Reboot and try the Tascam stuff again. If still no joy download Samplitude Pro X Silver, pretty basic, 8 tracks only, but I have never known it NOT to find any hardware.

Dave.

Good idea - if the old soundcard is still enabled it can definitely cause conflicts/issues like you're seeing.
