...
This is more of a "just to let you know" and a question....but the Tascam US-2400 price has dropped by 50% from $1600 to $800 and I'm considering taking advantage of this deal. Anyone have good or bad things to say about it? Only downside I have seen so far is no LCD screens on the channels telling you which channel is which. And no time code read out.
It would look awfuly good in my studio :D
Thanks guys.

I love it. Been using it with Sonar 5 for a couple of months and I'm SOOOO glad I bought it. I saw the price drop as well, so that's when I jumped on it.

Remember, this really isn't a "MUST HAVE" for your studio. The money is definitely better spent on nicer pres or whatnot.......but I've never looked back & wished I hadn't bought it.

thanks funkdrmr...
that's the problem, because I've been wanting another pre, but I feel I need to take advantage of this deal.
blah, I don't know. For the money, i guess it can't hurt.

Man, I am really wanting one of those. I just have too much other stuff that I need worse!
lol

I hear you guys,

I want one too :D but is the price low because they are getting discontinued?

Well I haven't seen anything confirmed that they're replacing it but I've heard rumors that a beefier version is coming out with led readout and a few other bells and whistles that are missing from this version. I've also heard it may be 2000-2500 bucks. But like I said these are rumours and I honestly don't put much into them, just what I heard some yahoos on another forum speculating about.

this is EXACTLY what I was thinking too. I feel like they're trying to get rid of their inventory before a new one comes out. More reason for me to jump on it I guess. I think I'll decide monday.

I'm with you benny,if you get one i get one :D

I just sold my 01v96v2 so i think i deserve this :D

lol
thing is, I have to persuade my boss to get it for work. He seemed pretty cool about it when I brought it up, but told me to talk to him on monday.

so if he says yes, i'll let you know ;)

Yeah I've been watching for a while. Ever since I've sold my US-428. What kept me from getting one for so long was the problems it seemed to have with cubase. Now that that problem has been solved I'm seriously considering getting one. I just got a credit card from musicians friend do you think I could get them to price match? :p

probably not off an ebay sale.
i heard about the cubase problems too, but have heard good things about it working well with PT, so I'm not too worried. And like you said, they fixed the probems with cubase.
I used to have a 428 a long time ago, too. Good little unit.

i thought 16 faders going to be enough on 01v96 but its never enough :(

so i'm desperately looking into buying this thing ,but i want you guys to buy ir first :D so i wont be the only one :P

Well I'm gonna go ahead and purchase one on Friday... I've played with one In gutair center and the only complaint I had on the machine was the very loose joystick panner.

damn you! they had one at your guitar center?! I went to one yesterday and they didn't have one for show.

Joystick panner isn't a big deal to me because I don't do any surround sound...although, who knows what might happen in the future.

i heard about the cubase problems too

There are no compatibility problems with Cubase and the US-2400.

[rant]
The people I have read that seem to have problems, have problems because they haven't read the manual, and basically haven't done their reading in general. Just your typical people who will buy something and plug it in and expect to be automatically endowed will all the knowledge in the world as to how it works, and then throw a fit because they don't know something they didn't bother to find out. Then they go and give an excellent product a shitty review on a website because of what can only be described as 'user error'
[/rant]

There is a firmware patch which makes it 100% compatible with Cubase. Due to my tendancy to try and figure out how something works properly before trying to mess around and getting all frustrated, I didn't have a single problem with it and still don't. :D

Long story short, highly recommended. :)

Well I'm a day late but I ordered it. Should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday.
