Dear Friends,
I've been using my Focusrite Pro 40 Interface for almost 2 years and did few successful worldwide releases. The Mix control really bothers me with routing. I am thinking of getting Tascam US 1800, the way i red that you just plug in and go with T-US 1800:) Do you think this is good idea? How is the quality of T-US 1800 comparism to Focusrite?

I can't give a comparison, as I have never used a Focusrite interface. I can say that I have never had an issue of any sort with the 1641 (same as 1800).

I haven't used either one of those so I can't say much but I have heard the Focusrite pre amps are really nice.

Unless you need the US-1800's extra inputs, I'd stick with the Pro 40. You can set the Pro 40 up to work just like the US-1800 would by selecting the "DAW Tracking" preset in MixControl. After you have selected that preset, you can pretty much close MixControl and never have a need to open it back up again. The only reason you might need to open MixControl again is to set up zero latency monitoring (which you can do by selecting the "Zero Latency Tracking" preset from MixControl).

Don't know about the Tascam, the the I have used the Focusrite Pro 40 for a while and it's great. I don't use MixControl for anything except changing the latency for tracking and mixing, so I don't know how great it is...I use Reaper and prefer it's routing options.

The pres are good. I have others I typically use, but the built in ones are fine, clean and transparent.

I'd recommend it.

Just looking at the Tascam, it only has 4 outs, that wouldn't cut it for me. If you don't need all the outputs the Focusrite offers, the Tascam may be fine for you. Also, the 8 pres are only XLR, so if you need to connect 1/4 inch stuff you only have a few inputs. I wouldn't get the Tascam for me, but others here really like it.

Thanks a million for the help and i really do appreciate all you people.
