Hello, I'm new here and having some trouble with my tascam Us-1800 it only records in mono and when I'm recording vocals it throws me off and just a big hassle. Has anybody had this problem or know how to fix it if there is a way? Thanks, Rob.

Say what?

If you're using one microphone... it's in MONO.... one source = mono by definition.

You might need to describe your problem with a little more clarity dude...

Not making much sense dude. Like Armistice says, vocals are supposed to be recorded in mono because they're....MONO.

No, it wasn't a dumb question now that you explain it netter. I don't know SONAR, but it sounds to me that you might be trying to record a mono source (mic) onto a stereo track. So what's happening is that the mono source is getting thrown onto one side of the stereo track. There must be a way to call up a mono track in Sonor, which will probably default to being panned right in the middle and allow you to hear your vocals up the middle.

Alright I will check that out when I get back home thanks for the help I appreciate it

No dumb questions, just dumb answers sometimes. lol

Isn't Sonar the DAW that makes it difficult to record to a mono track for some reason? IDK....

Figure out how to setup to record a 'mono' track. It sounds like you are trying to record to a stereo one. A stereo track needs two inputs from the Tascam. You have only one input from your voice. :)

...the odd number tracks are probably getting thrown to the left, and the even number tracks to the right.....right? :)
