So I have a Tascam US-1800 and Cubase 6 Artist and an M-Audio Keyboard running midi into the Tascam. I've used this setup before on my desktop computer with no problems whatsoever. I recently began using my laptop for live performance in conjunction with Komplete (specifically Kontakt 5) with the same setup. Everything seems to work fine. I get playback, the programs run fine, and when running Kontakt 5 standalone it detects the midi signal from the tascam and works fine.
Now, the problem
When I run Cubase it will not detect the midi signal from the tascam! It sees the tascam fine, even plays back through it from tracks and everything, but nothing happens when I play the keyboard (even though it works fine with Kontakt 5 standalone). Under MIDI Connections (or whatever that window is called) it doesn't seem to detect anything.
I don't remember having any problems like this with my desktop. Any suggestions? Perhaps there's a step I need to take to "set-up" Cubase using the MIDI through my tascam specifically?
