Hello,
I am very new to recording. I recently bought a Tascam us-1641 and have been trying to get it to work with adobe audition cs5.5. I can only record with two inputs at a time, How do I make it so I can record using all of the inputs. Audition only shows two inputs so I can pick any two and record with them. Any help would be awesome. I really don't know much about recording but would like to start. thank you.

Hopefully someone who knows AA first hand will come along, but generally you'll have options for input/output hardware.

If you select something with a generic name like "windows system sound" or "windows mixer", you'll probably get 2 in 2 out.

If you have drivers for your tascam, it should show up by name under your hardware list.
If you select it, it should then allow you to pick any of the inputs or outputs.

Some software (like protools) has a separate IO page that needs to be configured, even if you pick the right hardware.

I've assumed AA cs5.5 is capable of multitrack recording, btw. I don't know that for certain.

First thing with the 1641, is you may likely need to download and install the latest driver for your particular computers operating system. Get that HERE.

Also, there is a firmware upgrade for the unit that may need to be installed as well. It is available there too.

After that, you will need to select the 1641 as your ASIO device within Audition. Cant help you there... :)

Thank you for you quick response. I have downloaded the new firmware and drivers and I selected my the 1641 as my AISO device within Audition. Am I missing anything else?

I just wanted to say that I figured it out. Thank you all for trying to help me.

What was it in the end, gaustin?
It might help someone else who finds this thread.

Go to a track input control section (first tab on screen, next to the mixer tab, LHS),What should happen is that when you click on the triangle on the RHS of the input selector you get a dialog box indicating either to use the default, or mono or stereo options, also with triangles. Clicking on these additional triangles should reveal all of the input sources you have available. That is where you select the particular inputs you want to use, not in preferences at all. I hope that is understandable, I'm not too sure how to explain it. I figured out how to do this on an adobe site but I'm not allowed to post a url on this until I have made 10 post or more.

Thanks gaustin for returning with your solution!

Welcome to the forum! :D
