Hi all,

I've heard of this forum for years but have only today joined! Nice to meetcha. Hope you can help!

I'm looking for a soundcard I can use with my laptop, and I think I've boiled it down to two: Tascam's US-122L and the E-MU 0202. I will never need to record from multiple inputs simultaneously, though I do need to be able to record from minidisc, keyboard, mic, etc- its gotta have at least one preamp. And I really like USB, or PCMCIA. Also, I need to be able to record streaming audio from the web into Adobe Audition, so the card has to be full duplex to be able to playback and record at the same time. A price under $200 would be good too! There don't seem to be many reviews on the web for either card, aside from a hibernate/standby problem with the Tascam.

As an aside- I have an Echo Indigo io that I'm fighting with Echo to get a refund on (wow, look at the horrible grammar in that sentence! Anyway...) I've had nothing but hassles with it. Feedback. Stuttering playback. Loud hiss. Inability to play and record simultaneously. Every time I try to use the thing it has a new or different problem, and their customer service is going out of their way not to help me. (I live in Australia, bought it in the US, it would appear I'm the only person on the planet ever to have done such a thing...) I bought it because I liked the small size and the fact that I didn't need to power it - I'm running on solar and every watt counts - plus I'd had good luck with Echo in the past when I owned a Mia. I've come to realise the foolishness of the purchase, particularly given the fact that you can't plug a mic directly into it. So here I am.

If anyone has an opinion on the Tascam or the E-MU, or another option I should consider, please let me know- and thank you in advance!
