Hi There,

I just got my Tascam US-122. I was trying to record using a 1/4 " TRS dynamic microphone. The problem is:

1) The signal LED lights us whenever I speak into the microphone, but I can't hear what I am speaking through my headphones.

2) Must I turn the input knob all the way to MIC when using 1/4" TRS? As at the moment, the SIG LED only lights up when I turn the knob all the way to the right until the indicator is pointing to the word MIC.

Anyone please help me out..thanks!!

I don't have a manual here, but I think the mic pre only is connected to the XLR. That's probably why you've got to turn it way up. You also need to turn on and turn up the direct monitor if you want to hear it in the phones.

A dynamic mic going through the 1/4" input will not have as much gain as through the XLR. So, yes, you'll have to turn it up most of the way. Turn it up until the red "OL" light just flashes with your loudest singing, then turn it down just a little. Also, make sure direct monitoring is enabled and Mono recording is "on." Then turn up the headphone output to the desired level.
