Tascam US-122 Recording Troubles With Cubase/Nuendo

Hi, when i bring up Cubase or Nuendo to try record using my Tascam US-122, the level bar detects me making noise through my headphones but when i click record a bar doesnt come up with my recording, why is this? why won't it record? thanks in advance, appreciate any help! Seb :)
 
We're gonna need a little more info. 'I plugged it in and it didn't work' really doesn't help much in diagnosing the problem. Have you gone through the Getting Started Guide? There are a number of steps involved, particularly making sure that the correct physical inputs are routed to the correct channels in the software (Devices --> VST inputs; also, your mixer channels can be used to select inputs) and that the software channels are activated for recording (the button with the black dot in the middle that turns red when you click it).

Also, and I'm not accusing you of anything, the fact that you are using a $1500+ piece of software (Nuendo) with a $200 interface (Tascam) is suspicious. In general, people on this board (myself included) do not tolerate software piracy.
 
I have a friend who is a music engineer, he sorts me out with everything cheap, dont worry im not dodgy, this stuffs worth it i think. OK basically once i have setup and installed the Tascam, the computer recognises it etc, i go and open Nuendo and select the new project option. Now in the settings i think everything it setup to know its my tacam i want to run everything through and when i make noise into my mic it shows up on one of the bars in the control panel that hovers over the screen, so it knows its there but when i press record, the line movies in the project window as its moving through but it does not create a bar with it showing me what i have recorded so i can play it back, any ideas on why this is, hope this helped a little more, can't think of a better way to explain it, thanks, helps majorly appreciated as i have tried everything i can think of and come up with nothing :(

Have you record enabled the particular track you are trying to record on. It's the little circle and it should be red. If not click on it.
