Tascam US-122 - How do you get any output?

I have just purchased a Tascam US-122 for the purpose of recording guitar into Sonar 3.0. I am getting a signal registering on the unit and going into Sonar when I arm the record but how do you get to monitor any output from the darn thing?

I have hooked the line outs to an amplifier and get nothing as with the phones output. I might be missing some fundamental piece of knowledge here but I've tried every variation on cabling and setup I can think of.

Any advice will be most welcome as, at the moment, I'm going to go back to sticking my guitar through a hi-fi amp - at least it works!
 
im not sure. However, I couldnt helo but notice ur user name. Nice, so i guess your a dave fan too.

Maybe they could help me get this @#$$ing Tascam to work?

ooo. I thought u were a DMB (Dave Matthews Band fan) beacause there is Dave, and their drummer's name is carter. Sorry.
 
Output?

Dave - am assuming you figure it out by now, but if not - switch you "Direct" switch to "on". I just got mine home and this one had me qustioning at first!

Now if I could only find the darn control panel?!?!?!?

Thanks! I think the Direct Switch was part of the problem as I can now hear stuff coming through on my headphones with this switched on. I have tried to connect my hi-fi amplifier through the headphones socket though and not got anything.

Anyway, I'm fairly convinced that the US-122 is not faulty and will do the job I want it to.

If you're serious about the Control Panel (and not taking the p*ss) then you'll find this in the Windows Control Panel.
 
I am very serious. I am running XP and CANNOT find it anywhere in the Windows Control Panel - I would assume it would be under "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices" and then under "Sounds and Audio Devices" and then under the "Audio" tab. At that point I can select which sound card but there are no properties to set?!?!?! Nowhere in any of this do I find a control panel to set the latency as described in the manual.
