Tascam Problems

Hey, i have just found a tascam ministudio porta 02 in my friend's house, and after some buddying up i convinced him to lend it to me.
i think im getting the hang of it
but im running into a snag
i can record one track fine
and play it back fine
but when i try to record a second track along with the first,the first track drops out and i hear feed back until i stop playing.
any way to solve this nuisance?

You sure you have the tracks set right.? I had one of those but I don't remember getting any feedback or bleeding.

Are you assigning tracks correctly? Do you have a manual?
