I am thinking about getting the Tascam Mini Studio to record my demo its has a Tascam porta 02 4-track, audio-technica m2x headphones, and a 10-pack of 30 min cassette tape. i like to kown what you guys think.
Go for it...it's simple but still very good. Tascam is basicly the standard in cassette multitracks. Something simple and small like that is excellent for songwriting.
Well, what's it costing 'ya? I had a 414 four-track for a couple of years and I outgrew it. I wanted more and I got me the TASCAM 488 mkII 8-track and I couldn't be happier.
This is a good place to start if you are just recording yourself with little backup (only 4 tracks). I just want to prepare you, as Gear_Junky's name portrays, once you get started, you get hooked on buying gear to get that better sound. HAPPY RECORDING.
Hey CJ, it's a good place to start for sure. I have an ANCIENT Tascam 246 (THE first "Portastudio") I purchased in 1984 and I still use that sucker from time to time today. You can always get more than 4 tracks out of your setup by "bouncing" or "ping-ponging". I used to regularly get 10 tracks out of mine by bouncing, without going out of the 4 track. You just have to be real careful when you mix your bounces because once you erase over the old tracks, they're lost forever. Oh well, I'm gettin too deep. Just get it, start recording and have a blast. You will become addicted like all of us and want to spend your childrens inheritance on studio stuff. Welcome to our world bOb
