i went to a store this week and i asked if they had tascam fourtracks and they told me that the factory stop producting because they are making new models(?!).so the only choise that i have is to buy a fostex x-34.i wanted a tascam 414-mk2.is the fostex good compairing to tascam 414?

What about a TASCAM 424 MkIII (4-tracker)? I was passing through Hermes Music in San Antonio before Xmas. I believe they had both the 414 and 424. Give 'em a call: 1-888-437-0648

I forgot to mention that iam from europe and i want a 4-track immediately.i cant wait 2 months to get my 4-track and the only choice that i have right now now is the fostex x-34.is it good compairing with tascam 414?i think they have the same price.

I did a lot of web research about TASCAM units before I got one. While I didn't review everything I could find on Fostex I got the impression that TASCAM was preferred over Fostex. HOWEVER, if you're in a pinch and can only get a Fostex then go for it!

Yeah i know...its all about promotion.i wouldnt rely on that.tascams are to fancy but that doesnt mean that they are bad.is tascam made in u.s?anyway americans have this (bad)habit, like all u.s products are top quality:))(no misunderstaning please,i have nothing with america):)

By researching reviews I meant "user" reviews, not product promotions. Try the user reviews at harmonycentral.com. The TASCAM company is in the U.S., however, I don't know where their equipment is actually made (could be anywhere now days!). So Leon, where exactly are you in Europe?

From greece..u know..musaka,islands and shit:).i just got my fostex and a mic shure sm-57.i tried to record some shit on track 1,but when i rewind it and listen throw my headphones it sounds like chinese sonata or something.whats happening?i mean it sounds like i play underwater.

Fostex units kinda suck. I heard numerous times that Fostex products just fall-apart after a month or two. Don't get a Fostex, be wise with your money and wait until the new Tascam's come out. It's worth it!

Fostex X77

A few years ago, I bought 4 Tascam 424's from Musicians Friend and had to send every one of them back with the same problem...would not record on tracks 3 and 4. I gave up and bought a Fostex X77 which has proven to be an excellent, reliable recorder. Even though I record digitally now, I still use the fostex on occasion. However, I don't like the new fostex 4 tracker that is streamlined...not enough control. If that was my only choice, I would go for the Tascam.

Damn dudes u are so right.i already buy a fostex and when i rewind my recording and listen throw my headphones it sounds like shit.i called the guy who sold it to me and he told me to bring it back so that he can chack it.damn!why when im buying an expensive thing it turns to be a piece of shit?i quess iam too hasty.:(
