I got a problem with a brand new Tascam 414 MKII.
The owners manual says that the machine was designed with a "2x" speed for recording.! The trouble with that is when I take out the take and play it in a player like a boombox or m,y ca stereo it plays slow becauase of the speed at which it was recorded. WHAT AM I TO DO that i am not already doing??? AND WHY DOESNT ANYONE WHO OWNS THIS MODEL HAVE THIS PROBLEM too. WHY DID THEY DESIGN THIS SO STUPIDLY???!

Eh,... stupid?

The manual also has a section called "mixdown". Please read it.

In a nutshell, you must play back the 4-track tape on the 414mkII, while adjusting levels, pan and EQ to taste. Once you're happy with your mix, then connect from the 414mkII's Line-Outs to a standard cassette deck's Line-Ins. You play your mix back from the 414mkII, while simultaneously recording on the standard cassette deck. This "mixdown" tape is the standard cassette format that works in your boombox and car tape player.

A little more advanced technique is to record your mix onto the 'puter through your standard soundard. This enables you to put your mixes on CDRs.;)
