I was listining to one of my old 4 track recording and really liked the crisp sound. $150 4 track recorder sounded better then digi001. BLAH! don't say its about mics and pre-amps. I'm talking stock form of the digi001.

I don't like the tape thing, but i want to use the pre-amps. I was thinking about useing the 2 pre-amps, and pan it hard left hard right for 2 channels and go out of the master output to the digi001. Would this work? I would try it right now but i don't have the 4-track with me. I hope to get a cool sound with it. plus 2 more tracks :-)

You're talking about basically using your MkII as a mixer. It works well that way. You can either mix down to the digi, or use a combination of stereo outs and aux outs to get 4 channels to the digi. Have fun.

well it works, has a different tone, haven't actually done any tracking with it yet. but 2 more channels woohoo!

i've never heard the digi001 pre-amps but i'm really surprised!

my mkII pre-amps are pretty weak and noisy, especially when recording voice or acoustic guitar. i'm about to get an audio buddy pre-amp to use with my delta44, while still using the mkII as a monitor mixer. everyone seems to say the audio buddy is really good bang for the buck ($80). good luck... :)
