tascam m-3700 motu 24i/0

would this be a pretty sweet setup for entering the digital domain. i'm pretty sure i would be able to mix 24 tracks at once with the combo and the 3700 has automation which is awesome. any opinions, experiences on this combo or seperately?

why do you need the motu?

imo, get a standalone hard disk recorder like the hd24

that m3700 has at least mute automation built in so it's not like you need to use a computer to mix on

That setup would indeed be nice, especially considering how dirt cheap some analog mixers are goingfor these days. I'm sure you could find a great deal on the 3700.

However, going with a computer DAW is definitely better than a stand alone HDR, in my opinion. Chances are, the automation in the DAW is going to be far superior to the mixer, and possibly easier to use. Generally speaking, you'd want to use the computer automation for level changes, and the mixer for its sound.
