Tascam M-3700 32 Mixing board

I've been watching one not sell for $1,075 on ebay for months. The value of the board varies greatly. If no one around you wants one.. it's nearly worthless. If someone close by wants one you might be able to get up near $1000, but it's not likely. They are great units but not worth much today. You have to have the right buyer. I have one and would be interested in buying another, depending on price and location and condition.

I bought one about 9 months ago for $200. 32 channel, full meter bridge, balancing kit and an addon to the included automation system. It had a minor power issue though and was mostly non-functioning when I bought it.

I'll split it with you. :)

I know you probably want/need the guts and the PS...and all I want is the 32-channel frame and the full meter bridge.

I have enough 3500 modules to convert my 24-channel 3500 into the 32-channel frame...and I don't need any of the guts except for the 32-channel full meter bridge. Heck, I probably only need the extension, as I have the main section of the bridge.

And not to low-ball the OP....but I agree, most of these boards are selling around $750 or less. I've not seen on go for $1000 or more in a LONG time.
They are 20-year old boards and there's not much actual support for them from TASCAM...so if you have issues, you are on your own (that's why I have so many spare modules and whatnot).

Hey biff123 ...where are you located?

Im located in Salt Lake City Utah. The board has a good power supply and worked great last time we used it about a year ago, but we just want to free up space get something new we just arent using it anymore.

Mmmm...the shipping can be tough (and costly) for longer distances on a board that size...plus it would need to be crated really well.

I don't know where sr71rules is located...but I'm in NY, a bit too far from Utah.

You probably can take this console to the UPS Store and let them package/ship it for a reasonable price..I've shipped several consoles this way ( incuding a DDA S ( 130lbs) Tascam M-2600mkII ( 100lbs),etc.)..Worked fine..Good luck

I didn't think the UPS shipped stuff over a certain weight/size. I thought they maxed around 80lbs, or something like that, since that's the most their drivers could safely lift....and that you needed to send it via some freight service.....?

Does UPS do larger freight...?...how is it delivered, not by their regular drivers...?

Hello..They ship up to 150 lbs..Must be lazy drivers ( lol)..150 lbs on a handtruck is welterweight considering I used to deliver 700 lbs ( (7) 100 lbs bags of Livestock feed) on a handtruck, down a ramp off the back of the truck at highspeed..!..I've never had a problem UPS Store shipping of my consoles..Good luck

I guess it's also the size of a console, not just the weight, that had me wondering. I've been able to move/slide my console around by myself, but there's no easy way I would put something that size on a typical handtruck...just too hard maneuver, balance and hold on to, but I believe you if you say UPS shipped them for you, it's just that most people who sell stuff like that tend to always avoid the shipping part, or say it's up to you to arrange it with a freight company.

Like how the heck do you move a 6ft console down to a UPS store just to tell them to pack it up? :D

If I sold something like that, I would rather crate it with some wood & cardboard...and I would prefer the same from a seller if I bought one. For all the times I got large items packed by the UPS Store...it was just in cardboard filled with foam peanuts.... :( ....though I guess you could have them insure it for the full amount, but collecting on damages is not always simple or quick.

All of my large framed consoles, super tower lifts, etc. arrive on a big rig semi tractor trailer.

And most if any don't have a motorized tail gate and they insist on backing up to the loading dock.

And a fork lift too! -- The freight usually is atop a wooden pallet -- for they want to dump that load and get on to their next stop.

A TASCA M-3700 ain't THAT big...but still...if it was only going to be packed in cardboard and foam peanuts....mmmmm....I wouldn't take that chance. Not sure if the UPS Store does any other(better) kind of packing...?

Hmm,

We might be able to make this work...

Miroslav, I'm about 4 and half hours from you up here in NH (assuming you're in the town your website says you are) and I have an empty spare 32 channel M3500 chassis.

If we can get the M3700 stripped and shipped for a reasonable cost we can meet in the middle and trade parts. I'm not going to use my M3500 and I have 40 channels for it, 32 are in perfect shape and in the other two quad channel packs are functionally working but have some LED issues.

I already have a 32 channel M3700 with the bridge so I don't need that but I wouldn't mind a spare PSU, plus the extra channels and fader packs...

The costs will be a little high no doubt to ship some items, like the bridge and the PSU, but we could sacrifice a couple of boards to help others live on!

Just throwing it out there!

Hey I'll for along for the ride ta keep ya company!

So what you are saying is....

If the OP is willing to strip his M-3700, and just ship the modules/electronics/bridge and the PS...you have a 32-channel frame that I could get, rather than the OP shipping his, and you would let me take the full meter bridge, from the OP's 3700, and you would get the rest of the parts.....?

Hey...maybe we CAN work something out! :)
I have enough channel modules and faders to fill out a 32 frame, though that would not leave me with any spares...so while I don't need 40 channels' worth of 3500 modules...I could/would in this case take some off your hands, so that if/when I transfer my 24 to the 32 frame, I would be left with some spares...
...but you and I could work out those details....which parts, and the transfer, etc.(how's the arm rest on your spare 32 frame?).
I guess we need to OP to chime in on all this, as it's up to him if he wants to strip his board down...or at least come up with a total price for the board + shipping so we know what this is going to cost.

If you saw my post on the Analog forum a couple of weeks ago...I let a 32-channel 3500 w/full bridge (but no PS) go for $162 on eBay, just 'cuz I was outside doing yard work and forgot about the listing. DUH!!!
It was only about a 1.5 hour drive to Queens, NY to go get it....

:

Lots of details to work out, hinging on the OP being agreeable. Step one though must surely be having the OP return to the thread ;)

This would both free up some space in my house and, hopefully, get me enough parts to make my M3700 live on forever!

Fingers Crossed!

The UPS Store uses TONS of bubble wrap, doubleboxed cardboard, peanuts,etc...I haven't had a problem..Actually, had more damaged with a console that I shipped the "proper" way ( shesssh)...With the way these things were packed, I don't know how it could be damaged unless.....Your UPS drivers don't like you...(lol)
