Tascam M-208 connection to Computer

Hello:
I would like to connect the Tascam M208 to my computer. I don't know which output to use. Do I use the 1/4" R & L converting to a mini jack or the PCM output, which looks like it'll take RCA type connectors? Thank you.
 
The M208 has no PCM output of any kind. :eek:

The RCA jacks are standard -10db, line level, analog signals and should be fine to mate to an 1/8" stereo line in plug on your sound card.

That's not PCM, it's PGM for program outs, those are your 4 bus outputs, there are 8 of them because they are double bussed.

How do you want to use it, (input to computer only, input to computer with output from computer going to a monitoring setup, output from computer only going to a monitoring setup), and how many inputs/outputs does your soundcard have?

Are you using it to record multiple inputs at once? and if so, how many seperate tracks are you looking to record at once?

Thanks for the responses. I was looking behind the mixer from above so I misread PGM for PCM.

The final result I would like is a Windows media file for our website. The audio I would like to capture is our radio program.
The sound card on the computer is a standard 1 line, 1 mic, 1 speaker.
I am going to capture one audio source. While I'm capturing, I would like to monitor with a pair of speakers.

I hope this is enough info. Thank you for your help!
 
Since I don't know what you're using as a monitoing setup, I'll do 2 possible ways.

1) This is the easier way, you could run a stereo line out from your recording source directly into the stereo line input of your computer's soundcard, use the recording options of your computer's soundcard to select the line input as the recording source, and use the playback options of your computer soundcard to monitor the line input thru the computer's speakers.

2) You could run the stereo line output from your recording source into input channels 1 and 2 on the 208, then assign input channels 1 and 2 to output bus 1-2, make sure to pan both the input channels and the output busses hard L/R to keep your stereo seperation, then hookup output busses 1/2 into the stereo line input of your computer's soundcard, and setup your computer's soundcard to use the line input as it's recording source, then hookup the main L/R outputs from the 208 to your monitoing system.

For what you are trying to do I think the mixer is probably an un-needed step in the recording chain.
