Quick roll call, who's using the Tascam fw-1884 with Sonar? I just got mine and am trying to get it set up for tracking.

I am... and its working lovely.
the only thing to note is that the inputs to the fw-1884 are balanced and most synths/drum machines are not. when i'm playing the synth (roland xv-3080) or drum machine (asr-x pro) i patch them in straight, but when i'm recording from them, i go through an FMR audio RNP to balance the signal.

Thanks there, Sean. I actually discovered that the other night after I couldn't get a decent input level into Sonar.
Where is Bowie in relation to Baltimore? I get up that way every so often.

I'm using the FW-1884 with Sonar 4 Producers Edition. However, for me it has not been so smooth. It worked fine when I got it about 3 weeks ago. But a few days after that it started to act quirky.
The Tascam is made to work best with Sonar in its Native mode (so the manual says) but Sonar won't recognize it when it is no matter how I tweak the Options -Control Surfaces menu, nor how much I tweak the Options-MIDI Devices. It works fairly well in the Mackie mode though (but it doesn't do all the things like it would in Native - doesn't recognize the EQ and many of the other shortcuts). I did do a Windows XP Service Pack update about that time. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. I've removed and reloaded Sonar 3 times now and it hasn't helped at all.
Any suggestions would be of great help!

KBlair: bowie is more a subherb of DC than B'more, its about 30 miles south east of B'more and 20 miles east of DC. because it's more-or-less positioned between the two cities, the housing prices are rediculous.
gaotu1978: i can't say that i've ever used the EQ knobs. all the editing buttons (cut/paste/copy etc...) and the per track stuff (volume, pan, mutes, aux send levels) and the MMC type controls (play, rewind, etc...) get a full workout. but i'm using Sonar2. I'm planning to upgrade to S4 tomorrow.
