Hi.

How does I make my FW1804 multitrack record in Cubase LE?

It will only record channel 1, where my microphone is connected.

It will not record my bass(channel 5) or my guitar(ch. 8(hi-z)).

Can anyone help me setting up my Cubase?

I own the FW1884 and us it with cakwalk so I cant reaaly help you. Did you download the Cubase drivers from tascam.com and have you pressed the control panel button on the Tascam and set it to Cubase mode?

You may want to visit tascamforums.com

You need to record enable, or "arm" every track you want to record on it. It's the little round button on every track at the left. Turns red when you click it.

I use the FW-1804 with Cubase SL3.0, but maybe I can help a little if you haven't figured it out yet. You need to check and make sure that the tracks are armed, and that the button next to it, with the speaker on it is armed as well. You also might want to check your vst connections, and your ASIO driver settings. Go to the 'devices' menu, and select the VST connections tab, or just hit F4. It will come up with a window that has all the inputs and outputs listed on it. Make sure the 'Audio Device' space has ASIO FW-1804 in it. If nothing happens after that, go to the FW control panel, and make sure you have the inputs activated on that. Go to the quick start tab, and select the inputs that you want contunuosly streaming. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I can now record 8 channels simultaneous. but now I can not hear any sounds in Cubase, please help me...
Right now I have to export the files and listen to them in winamp, what shall I do to make it work?

If you go into the devices menu, and select 'device setup'. Go down in that menu under the VST Audiobay section select the tab that says VST System Link. (Keep in mind, Cubase SL3.0 might be different than Cubase SE) There should be a button close to the top of that menu that says "Active ASIO ports for Data only (32 bits). Make sure that is NOT selected, or you will not get any sound out of your unit. I had a similar problem for a long time, and that one button was the issue. As soon as it was de-selected, everything worked fine. Just a question... Can you hear what you record if you have the FW-1804 record mode to both, or computer (assuming that you have the monitor button activated within Cubase)? If you can't hear what you record as you lay the tracks down, this may be a different problem, but try it out anyway. Good luck!

You need to have the monitoring on for that channel and your outputs running back to the Tascams Monitor channel (or monitor via mixer)

Not true... The way mine works, it doesn't play back unless I de-activate the monitoring... Just make sure your outputs (the same way -through device setup -> VST Audiobay -> VST Outputs) are all set to active, just to be on the safe side.

He was not asking about playback but maybe i'm just misreading
