Tascam fw 1082 playback problem

Hi, my tascam fw1082 desk is having a serious problem. I am running it with Cubase5. The problem is that half of the time the device is not detected, but after an on/off the drivers are found but the playback stops and starts and I have to let it play through a loop as it gradually gets better. I have installed the latest firmware and drivers from tascam.com. The midi mapping has gone haywire and sometimes the faders move by themselves. Help please

Just a curious question, but do you have it connected to your computer via a 4 pin or 6 pin Firewire connection?

Do you have the factory/authorized power source powing the unit? I had problems when I first purchased mine on ebay, but it had some half-ass Radioshack power supply. When I insisted the previous owner send me the actual power cord, it worked immediately in Ableton when I hooked it up.

Also I assume you have pulled up the FW1082 ASIO setting in your DAW? Hope you get it working- I LOVE this unit!

Hey guys, Tbh IM not sure about the firewire. IM at home atm and cant check, but yeh the desk does work in the daw, I can bring up the control panel and automation works. The midi mapping is abit mental tho, it keeps changing after I set it up, like my faders will change the pitch of the channel aswell as volume.
