Hello everyone, first off I'm new to the board.
Second, I'm having a real hard time pinpointing what is wrong with my Tascam FW-1082 firewire interface. About a month ago after a storm it started making this "droning whine" noise that is annoying. It's mostly in lower frequencies (80 - 125). I thought it was my power outlet so I switched it around and still no change.
I've tried headphones to eliminate that it isn't my speakers, I still hear it in headphones as well. So I am highly doubting it's a grounding or speaker issue. It's either the units power supply or the unit itself. Here is a sample of the noise I hear.
Sample:
It may be less audible in that clip than it really is. It messes with all of my recordings recently and it won't seem to go away. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same problems and knows how to fix it with out sending it in to Tascam. I really don't have the money to shell out $200+ for repairs.
Capacitor issue? Power supply? Other?
Please help me out and point me in the right direction to fix this. Thanks everyone!
