Hi, friends, I am new here, and apologize in case this is the wrong forum.

Ok, short version... does anyone know firsthand that an older Tascam DP01 FX/CD will work on a laptop using Windows 7?

Long version... I once had the DP01 FX/CD, and stupidly strayed from it to record into the built in soundcard of my ASUS laptop.
It's a good computer, except for the input of the soundcard. Distortion city.

I'm planning to buy a used DP01 FX/CD (budget choice over the newer Tascams) in a week, and then I got worried... what if the USB of the laptop won't recognize the Tascam??

See, long ago, on XP, I didn't export masters... I exported dry, individual tracks USB and mixed on recording software on my computer, with plugins.

This is how I prefer to work.

So, in summary... is my laptop gonna be compatible with the old Tascam?

Off to the side, another option... if I get an external soundcard for the laptop, instead of a Tascam... when they say that a soundcard has "some latency" does that mean it will record out of sync with previously recorded tracks? Or,will new tracks record in time and the latency is only heard in the monitoring?

I appreciate any help here.
