Hi !! My name is Guillaume, I'm french ( Paris ). I'm the new owner of a Tascam DP-32 , but I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!! I don't understand how to use the tracks 10-12-14 up to 32... I mean, is it a REAL 32 DIFFERENT tracks recorders or a 20 tracks recorders ? Because no matters if I choose mono or stereo, I have no possiblity at all to ( for instance ) copy/paste the track 1 to the track 10... only the 9 ( mono, and in this case, I have no option to do anything with track 10 ) or stereo ( but in this case, I lose one track, because I only want to copy it on track 9 and keep the 10 free for something else )... PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!! THANKS !!!
here's my message in french:
SVP J'AI VRAIMENT BESOIN D'AIDE MERCI !!!

PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP
I don't understand AT ALL this thing between mono and stereo between the tracks 9 and 32... and I REALLY need to work with 32 REAL tracks this week-end... and it looks like I can only use 20 tracks, the 12 others are linked ( no matters if I choose mono or stereo )
I'm so lost
PLEASE HELP ME !!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

This is common terminology with stand-alone recorder manufacturers. There are 8 mono tracks and 12 stereo tracks - they count each of the stereo tracks as '2'. giving you a total of 32 tracks.

Hi !! Thanks for your reply, but I'm VERY WORRIED !!! so, does it REALLY mean that I can "only" use 20 tracks ( 8 mono + 12 stereo ) ???? or is there ANY WAY to get a "full" 32 tracks ??? I mean, I used to work with a Korg D3200, and this one had 32 "real" tracks... PLEASE CAN YOU CONFIRM ME ASAP that the tascam can't do this ??? is there ANY WAY to get the 32 tracks ( and by instance, just for one example, being able to copy track 1 on 9 and track 2 on 10, or the stereo tracks 9/10 will always be linked together, even in mono ??? and in this case, I would like to know what's the sense of doing mono/stereo tracks because in mono we can't use the oher one at all, so, I don't see the point at all... please can you explain me the difference ? please, tell me asap because I need to work tomorrow morning with this machine and I'm super lost about this... thank you so much in advance !!!! I really count on you, and thanks again for your first reply, and thanks very much in advance for the next one...

Dude, the answer is on the Tascam product page... not hard to find.

Product: DP-32 | TASCAM

"The DP-32 has 12 selectable tracks between MONO or STEREO. These tracks provide more flexibility. For example, set to STEREO for recording synthesizer, or set to MONO when recording guitar or vocal. Not only that, you can create ideal settings for each track. (set #9 to #12 STEREO, then set #13 to #22 MONO) If all tracks are set to MONO the DP-32 becomes a 20-track multi track recorder."

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. If you need 32 mono tracks you appear to be out of luck...
