I am considering taking the plunge into digital recording for the first time. I am not going to give up my analog recording, I just want to broaden my horizons. I am looking at a Tascam DP-01FX. It is only about $100.00, it still has its original box, documentation, power supply and an assortment of cords and wires. What do you all think about the DP-01FX? Pros/cons, let me have them.

The tascam dr-680 is a good 8- track multichannel SD CARD recorder. But it is $600. I have the tascam do-008 only records 2 tracks at a time - costs $200

The DP-01FX also only records two tracks a time. But it is only me so I don't really need the capability to record more one track at a time really.

For $100 get a used M Audio Fasttrack Pro audio interface, download Reaper, then pay to register Reaper ($65) when you can afford it.

That would be a viable option for many people, but recording on the computer just does not interest me. I need faders to slide and pots to rotate and buttons to push. I am not putting down using the computer as a recording rig, its just not for me.
