I've just bought one of these as well.
Yes, that looks like the right lead.

What's this about software? Just plug it in, it should come up as a removable drive (like a usb thumb drive).

There's an option in the menu(dp-01) to open the usb.

i thought i needed a specific driver. I don't know enough about computer recording to even know what to ask. I'm guessing i'll need a program to edit tracks, right? I have experience with various stand alone recorders, and want to experiment with some track editing. I don't even know what i'll see when i plug this thing into my computer. we'll see. I just don't want to mess anything up, because i didn't have the correct driver.

Well, I got on here to down load something for my computer, so I can down load off my recorder, But I'm still lost. I'm not computer smart either, but when I plug my DP-01 into my computer, the computer does not recognize it. What do I do?

There is a command on the menu to open the usb, once open your computer will see the DP01 as an external drive just like a thumb drive or other device. Once that is open then you can use you PC to save and burn audio files.

As for editing, I usually import tracks into Audacity (it's a free download) which is far better for editing than the DP-01's features.

Particularly annoying to me is that Tascam will not let you manipulate very small pieces of material. No problem with Audacity in that regard.
