Hello...new to the forum and I have a couple of questions. I recently bought a Tascam DP-008 and I wonder if it's possible to produce polished pro level work using it as the front end. I'd record all the tracks using the DP-008 and then massage and master them on the computer. I know there are probably easier ways to do this but I'm just looking to find out if it's possible.

You will be able to produce very good quality work but of course a professional level can only be done on a professional studio.

So the best I wil be able to get it probably a good quality demo. That's fine for my purposes at home. It's always interesting to see how much performance you can squeeze out of your equipment.

Yes, the DP-008 is a great piece of equipment, you will enjoy it a lot.

How many tracks can I record on this unit if I bounce tracks?

DP-008 questions

New forum member. Using a DP-008 and a DP-03 for "pre-demos". Great machines, well-suited for the task. I have a couple of questions:
1) Is it possible to link and synch DP-008's /DP-03's to enable up to 4 inputs at one time and up to 16 "real" tracks? I thought I saw something (possibly a video) about it being possible, but have not been able to find the information again with a web search.
2) Recently, I had a problem with the click track. I recorded scratch tracks for multiple songs. All were OK. But then one song got out of synch on subsequent playback. I gather that the click track is not embedded in the recording but runs independenty from the songs start point. I was using 120 bpm, 8 beat count-in for 4 seconds but recording / playback seems to have advanced to about 3 1/2 seconds. It seems as if the start point has changed. I don't believe that I edited (cut) anything. Comments? Advice?
Thank you!
