Howdy,

New to forum and the DP-008.

I recently recorded a live performance and just let the machine run. Now I want to divide up the songs, then edit them with effects in a computer.

Is there any way to bounce track PORTIONS, e.g., by setting in-out points, or must I re-record to a computer using the audio outs?

TIA,

Ken N.

You should be able to cut out sections and put them into other tracks, within the recorder. It is a little cumbersome to do with the interface on that, but not too difficult. You will have to set your in/out points and then go through the editing process for each track, unless it is all within the same segment. You shouldn't have to send the audio out through the line out/headphone. Once you get your clips set up the way you like, you can export them, connect a USB cable, and then pull them off onto your computer. Hope this helps.;)

OK thanks ... gosh navigating these forums is really complicated, took me 15 minutes to find my own thread.

That said, I got it done by cutting sections of song mixed down and rendered to disk. But now, how do I erase the Master track so I can continue without leaving master tracks I don't need anymore?

FAT partition?

Actually, I guess the Master track gets overwritten each time you mix down ... is that correct? In that case, I think what I really need to do is erase the FAT partition.

Is there a way to do that, or is it done by re-formatting the FAT partition (scary ... I would hope it doesn't erase something I want to keep)?

TIA ... Ken N.

Tascam DP-008 bouncing (etc)

Pixelbird,
I was new to digital recording ('have several R2Rs) and needed to shorten the "learning curve" on the DP-008 operation - so I googled Tascam DP-008 DVD Video Training Tutorial and found www.proaudiodvds.com. 'sent for the DVD and am extremely glad I did. It takes you through bouncing tracks, punching in, editing tracks, overdubbing, routing inputs to tracks, mixdown, mastering, transferring tracks (USB) to your computer, etc. I highly recommend it.
