I'am an old 4-track tape dude(1980-1990).i've also recorded in 16 and 24 track studios putting out an album and two singles.
i learned about computers and became a computer tech 5 years ago. but applying it to multitracking's another ballgame.

TWO scenarios:
1-i want to record on my computer using a cubase(or cakewalk)software.what kind of card interface do i need to add to make it work? also,do i need an outboard mixer?

2-on the othe hand, i was checking out the new tascam 788
portastudio. it looks like it could do all i need.
anybody got any experience with the 788?(or a similar hard disk recorder)
thanks a lot,jwgeetar

788

jw,
There's been very little discussion about the 788 around here. Try doing a search in the Tascam Forum. Tascam has specs and pix on their website.

Twist

The 788 is brand new...in fact, it was just released like, last week or 2 weeks ago. I've been snooping around the Tascam forums before the release and it appears it's highly anticipated. I stand by Tascam products 100%...but I'm still an analog junkie.
