788 digital output/CDR
Hi,
This is my first post, so please be gentle. I posted this in the equipment forum before I saw the Newbies forum - oops!
I've just bought a second hand 788 Portastudio, and am wondering the best way to export songs to a laptop. I've read about the compatible CD burners, but have been unable to find any. Given that the list of compatible units was compliled by Tascam some time ago, are there any suitable units now readily available?
If not, how would I export the stereo digital output using SPDIF? What external equipment would I need? (My other halfs laptop, and I'm not allowed to open it!).
Thanks
Martynn

I would like to know if i can do this too. Please help!?

The OP did not have a compatible CD burner, do you?
If not, then the only ways to get audio out of the 788 is SPDIF or analog sound. SPDIF will give you two tracks of digital output. You need to have a device that has SPDIF in. There are USB input devices that have this, such as Tascam US-144mkII Audio/MIDI Interface.
For analog sound, you could use the line in on your PC (beware of poor audio quality). Or, you could use an interface like the one above.

Hope this helps.
