Tascam 688 – only receive signal through monitor not track/group channels

Iv'e got a project on my pc that I want to mix down on the Tascam 688,I also have the cables to connect the two together. My problem is I'm only receiving a signal through the monitor section and not through the track/group channels and can only control the master volume nob. Is there something I may doing wrong?
can anyone help?..

Use the menu settings to get signal to the main input section, i'ts the one thats diaginal from upper left to lower right.

the 688 began the scrolling through menus thing for the digital control interface
