Hello,

this is to all of you out there familiar with the Tascam 688. i just got this machine used and it did not have a manual. Does anyone out there have one that they could copy for me? I'll make it worth your while.

Also, when I press the play button nothing happens. The heads do not engage nor does it wind. Also, I can get all of the channels to illuminate except for numbers three and five.

If anyone has any insight on these problems, please let me know.
Does anyone know of a good place to get this unit serviced in the Portland, Oregon area?

Thanks for your time :-)

Jonas

Thanks Mutt, I got your reply to my PM.

And of course you've seen my latest problem with not being able to make it PLAY. And, tracks 3 and 5 appear not to work.

I'm hoping that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix. Tomorrow I'll be hearing back from the seller, regarding reimbursement for the services.

I'll be e-mailing you soon about getting the manual.

Thanks,
Jonas

A friend of mine also has a 688. He just acquired it about a month ago but without the manual. Where can we get one? How much are they? The www.tascam.com website has nothing on it - have they disowned it or something??

Neither of us has had time to dink around with it, thinking we'd be asking for trouble without the manual on hand. I've used 4-trackers before. How far do ya think I'd get without a manual?

:D A manual is a must with this, it shows you how to navigate in the MIDI control part.......

P/M me so I can send you my E-mail, I can copy mine/mail it, if you wish.............

Also I call people and help them on the phone...........
