Hi all-
I have some mixes on my Tascam 564 that I want to burn onto a disc using (wife's) computer. I figure if I can live with a mono product I just pan everything one way, and
Question 1: use the mic input jack to introduce the mono signal to the computer
Question 2: is there a different or better way to get mono signal in?
Question 3: if I wanted to go stereo, how is that done?
Thanks-
Mike

generally speaking you don't want to use the 'mic' input to transfer 'line' level signals to the computer

even if there is only a single physical input (labeled 'mic' )most computers (in my experience) allow you to toggle between 'line' & 'mic' in windows 'volume control' applet (assuming of course you're using Win system).

if you are burning to an optical disc to play in stand alone players material will typically be 'stereo' (two track) in any case and if you are not doing any post transfer processing you don't really save anying transfering in mono

If your computer is purely 'mic' (no line option) you are out of luck with regard to transfering in stereo . . . other wise you just use a 'y' adapter, phone outs from 564 1/8 in stereo to computer
