Recently acquired a 488mkII, problem is it wont turn on. Im new to these things...
Ive taken it apart and inspected the power supply and circuit board, the only thing im noticing that could be wrong is the heavy metal power supply thats soldered to the board...the 1-10 solder points look corroded or somewhat brown. Is replacing this TEAC power supply unit more than likely my answer to fixing this..
Ive searched for hour on forums not finding any resolution to my specific problem, can anyone help?

Is the power supply internal to the 488 or a separate pack?

First thing to check (with the unit unplugged from the wall) is if the fuse is blown. If you replace the fuse, and it works, the great. If the fuse blows again then you have a problem.

If you don't have repair experience, then I recommend you do not attempt any further troubleshooting - get a tech to have a look. Any of several parts (or combinations) can fail, and finding them requires due attention to safety, technical knowledge and a systematic diagnostic process. If you lack the knowledge or are not confident, then seek a tech.

Yes, power transformers can die / burn out, and yes they can often be replaced. But we are talking about mains supply voltages here (up to 240VAC depending on where you are).

Maybe a local pro-sound shop can help.

Check that the power supply is putting out the necessary voltage (it's written on the adapter), and then check the circuit board where the adapter is plugged in to. One or the other will be bad.
