Anyone out there know if this will hurt my recorder?
I have a 488 mk2 with the phantom power built into it,
and I was wondering if it is possible to connect two (2)
condenser mics to the first two channels (the ones w/ phantom power)
and connect a couple dynamic mics to channels 3 & 4,
without hurting my 488?
I only ask this because, I know that you are supposed to turn the phantom power OFF, when NOT connecting a condenser mic.
I just don't want to try it out, and find out later down the road,
that I fried somethin' up in my recorder.
Anyone have any experience with this?
thanks

Not an issue

It does not matter whether phantom power is switched on or off when you are using dynamic microphones on inputs 3 and 4.

You only have to be careful when using inputs 1 or 2: Switch the phantom power off if you are using microphones plugged in to inputs 1 or 2 that do not require phantom power.

Thanks for the reply, hpapper,
I really wanted to try that out,...but didn't know for sure.
