Hello,
I recently purchased Tascam 488 MK II. The unit seems to be in the really nice condition, everything works perfectly, except tracks 3,4,7,8 sem to not receive any signal from the channels in the mixer. I found it very odd, and was wondering what might be the basis of the problem? Also, when I play casette recorded on other devices side A plays exactly on tracks 1,2,5,6 while side B is playing back from 3,4,7,8 (its not a multitrack recording by any means, but I find it odd that still each side feeds different pairs of tracks). What you guys think? Could this be a tape casette Im using related issue? Or internal problem with machines hardware?
Thanks in advance, as I'm new here!

Allright, I just figured it out on my own! Apparently my PDF manual was missing pages that explained this "phenomena".

SO FOR THE RECORD and future 488 newbies

Bus 3/4 feeds channels 3,4,7,8. This group has to be selected on the channel strip in order to record on these tracks.

Thanks for viewing and happy recording everyone!

Cool then.

488 Portastudio's high tech but not too tough once you get the hang of it.
