Tascam 488 Manual or CD

Just purchased a used 488 PortaStudio, no manuals came with it...looking for manual or CD if one exists. Suggestions..Thanks.
I also have an older 07 Tascam...tried using the same casset tape to test 488 machine I just purchased on Ebay and when I hit the play button nothing happens..tape is TDK D90 IEC/TYPE1, perhaps there's some magical button I have to press to get the machine to work. It fast forwards and reverses but no play or record fucntions working Any tips...would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Hello.

There was a link to a DL of the 488 manual. I'll see if I can dig it up, later this morning.

When the Play/Rec forward tape motion does not work, but FF/RW works okay, it most often indicates the capstan drive belt has broken or slipped off the pulley/flywheel, and needs to be replaced. Such is the way of some Ebay deals. Shipping could have affected a loose belt to slip off, just by jostling it around. You get the picture.

I suggest ordering the manual from Tascam Parts, at (323) 727-8480. They'll sell it for a reasonable charge. No DL available, AFAIK.
