When I bought this nice Tascam 42B, after starting to play, I noticed black tar on the pinch roller and the counter roller. It means, no more music.....
Is there any one who knows easy way to get these rubber rings for both rollers, pinch roller and counter roller as well. Othervise all bearings are OK. No need to send the Aluminum rollers for re rubbering. I could do it by my self.

Thanks alot to everybody for the time used and efforts to help.
The Best Wishes.
Nik.

There is no way around it. You NEED to buy a new pinch roller [available from TASCAM] and have the counter roller re-rubbered [search for terry's rubber rollers]. Also, the solenoid rubber washers are def starting to go if they haven't already. Pull the front panel off and remove them [just pull 'em off] and I think there are 3 [for 3 solenoids]. There is no need to replace them as they don't have any major function other than to buffer transport noise. You may also need to clean off the melted rubber from the solenoids.
