Tascam 424mkIII Demo #2, 03-13-10

... [cover] by the Beatles. Recorded 03-13-10 on the Tascam 424mkIII, using TEAC MC-210 condenser mic, Mitchell MD-100 acoustic guitar and Ibanez GSR-200 bass. The first recording I've done this year and for about 9 months since.

...

New tune for 2010!

It's the usual hack job on the usual subject matter.

Appx 9 months since my last recording project.

More to come soon.

Enjoy!;)

Hello there, my ears are bleeding, you could re track it all again, please?... check your pitch and take some singing lessons. I suck singing but at least try to stay in the song's key. Sometimes we want to sing like those great singers out there, but the reality is that most of us can't.

Cheers.

The first of quite a few things which popped out at me as potential learning platforms was the lack of any type of stereo recording technique. Not sure if the "multiple mono sources" is the style or sound you're going for, so if that's the case, just disregard this critique.

If I were you, I'd research and use one of the multiple stereo recording techniques available. Such as the spaced pair, coincident and near-coincident pair, and mid-side are some of the more widely-used techniques.

Thanks for sharing!

Sure!

I don't mind making suckass whelp's ears bleed like zero-zer0-zer0's. Cheers!

Plus,... it's a 4-track, so stereo tracking technique is a moot point, but thanx!;)

Disregard the disrespectful n00b above..

I know you have an ear for pitch, and I know what you're going for. It's only the physical make-up of your vocal cords and the fact that maybe you're singing a bit out of your range that's really limiting you.. I can relate. I know you have the pitch you want in your head.

Getting that off my chest, it's decent. Like the guy above me said, it does almost sound like a multiple-mono thing is going on here.. one instrument per channel (except for the shaker/tambourine or whatever that was. :D).

Bro,...

it's my curse to want to sing songs out of my range. The reason there's only one McCartney is that there's only one McCartney! Doesn't stop me from having my fun, tho. Beat me the fuck up, if you want. I don't care. I'd surely rather sing my lame McCartney impression than outright Pussy-Rock like our friend Zero,... but it takes all kinds, don't it?

See,... it's 4-tracks,... count 'em. 4. There's no production technique to layer in the depth. It's just 4. It's stripped, if you will.

Shaker/tambourine was laid simultaneously and on the same track as the backup vocal. That's "advanced" technique in 4-track land.

I do love to sing stuff that's just out of my range, and that's a curse no less, but it also gives me something to strive and get up on my toes for when singing.

Thanks!;)

Yeah, sometimes I wish I had grown up in a different time, to have had to learn to track and mix and such on 4-track recorders. But, alas, I am spoiled to have what we do today.

Guess I'm that old!
