tascam 424

hello folks.I have a tascam 424 mk3.My question is simply this:when i put a fresh tape in and do a take that I dont like,how do I record over the original without creating a second track.I cant believe that i have to rewind it and erase before doing a second take?

The tape recorder takes care of the erasing for you when you record on a track you've just taped on.

But, of course, you still have to rewind it first.
