Interesting set of issues just cropped up:

In Rewind : counter does not work (i.e. doesn't count back, stays frozen
In Fast Forward : counter works fine

In RW : stop button works fine
In FF : stop button does not work at all and the tape spools incredibly fast

I'm guessing reel servo adjust for the super fast FF , but stumped about the counter and stop button issues

Having trouble identifying the counter roller... it's located in the head stack ?

Update is : after tweeking R150, everything came back to life
 
Okay good deal. May have been some oxidation or corrosion on the trimmer. Good to know. BTW the counter roller is the one just before tape enters the headblock assembly.
