hey, I think I want either one of those.....which one is better? The 388 is a tad expensive, but worth it? I don't get much money nowadays, so maybe the r8 would be better. Opinions? Thanks!

The 388 has a topnotch quality 8x8x2 built-in mixer, and slick all-in-one Portastudio design as it's strongest points.
The R8 runs at 15 ips and it's faceplate is removable as a remote, as well as having an integrated handle for carrying,... as it's strong points.

aw man.....I don't know what any of that means.....so basically....can yo tell me which one I should get?

If you have a nice recording mixer, get the R8.
If you have no mixer, get the 388.
If you have a nice recording mixer, get the R8.

Another thing to keep in mind is that TASCAM still gives parts support while Fostex does not.
