Tascam 38-8 reel to reel

Hello!!

I have a tascam 38-8 reel to reel I was wondering if anyone, has ran into a problem
with the VU meters not working, sound is going thru the inputs and out puts but I
can't seem to get the VU meter to work on track one I have torn the deck all apart
traced the mother and rec/playback amp cards and everything works fine I even hooked a test lead from track 2 VU meter to the number 1 track Vu Meter and then VU meter on track 1 works but on it's on it does not it records and plays fine on all tracks I just
wondering if I have overlooked something a person can do that from time to time has anyone ran into this problem before? this is not my first rodeo with reel to reels I am
pretty well versed with multi-track machines and info would be most helpful

Just a crazy suggestion, but maybe removing and reseating the channel 1 card might make a difference??? It's worth a shot.

Thanks for the info I have not been online in the site for a while you are correct about removing and seating the cards what I found was two problems one was the input-sync-repo bottons were bad I replaced and I also found a crack in the motherboard repaired it and it works fine, but thank you again for the info. Sir you have a good one
