Hi!
I just got my second hand 244 from USA and plugged in europe240v/220v I forgot using the stepdown transformer. And after a few seconds, I heard somthind blow up.
The lights of the vumeter still turn on, but I didnt test it.
My first question is. What voltage transformer do I need?
Deoes it need some serious repair?
Thanks!!

A lot depends on exactly what happened, but I wouldn't bank on it being economical to repair. It may be that the voltage regulators saved it from severe damage, but if not, it may be a case of replacing all the CMOS ICs and everything else that's voltage-sensitive.

Great, thanks. Any idea for wich is te correct transformer?
In europe its 220v 50hz, and the tascam is a 120v AC 60hz

I've not done this before, so I can't help much, but first you need to find out how much power it draws. I can't find the manual, or a picture of the back of the device. There should be a sticker, usually near the serial number. e.g. the TSR-8 says 95W.

Then you need to find a stepdown transformer that will deliver more than that figure.
e.g. if the 244 draws less then about 35-40W, this should do the job, assuming you're in the UK:

I wouldn't trust the rating too much which is why you ideally want something that delivers comfortably more power than the 244 needs, otherwise it's likely to fail.

Its 30W, and Im in Spain, do you think that transformer will do the job?

I doubt it. It looked like it was designed to plug into a UK wall socket, I'd expect Spain probably uses the shaver-style sockets. It might work though a travel adaptor, but you'd be better off finding one that's intended for use in continental Europe.

Hopefully you'll be able to find an equivalent of that model - 45W should suffice, I imagine.
