Tascam 16X08 - Do I need better pre's for electronic drums?

I recently set up a new small studio. I bought a Tascam 16X08 interface, and so far it's working well, however, I am buying a used BAE 1073 DMP for use with my better condensor mics. I also have a set of Roland TD30KVS, which I'll be recording either with the midi out, or the 8 line outs, to capture the sounds of the TD30.

Would I net any benefit from using good external mic pre's for this connection the 8 line outs rather than running directly from the TD30 into the line inputs on the Tascam? My intuition is the digital source signal is fundamentally different than that of mic, and it might not offer any advantage, but it's really just a guess. I'd be grateful for some insight into this matter.

Active sources tend to be a lot less sensitive to the input they're driving. I doubt you'll get much benefit from a different preamp unless you get something that adds a lot of character. And then it's just a matter of preference.
