Tape Deck Feedback Sound???

You all gave me great advice before, so I'm back for more. I'm recording business instructional vocals into my computer.

Based on your advice I had purchased the Audio Buddy, along with a pair of Shure mics. Right now I'm recording using Sound Forge 6.0 and things are working great.

Here is my only concern. When I playback the audio there seems to be some faint background noise/distortion/humming. Almost the same sound you hear when you record directly into a tapedeck and try playing it back.

Do you have any explanation? Maybe I can clean things up with Sound Forge. Please help.
 
SF may help clean it up, but I would look for the source of the problem. A digital recording should be quite clean if you have things set up right. Maybe you have the gain or trim level too hot or something. Try turning the gain down or mic pre's, or try 1 mic instead of 2. Process of elimination.
 
Getting Closer

So far the easiest way I've found to greatly lessen the sound feedback/distortion without much effort is to simply go under "Process" and use the "Smooth/Enhance" feature to Smooth out the sound to -3. It seems to do the trick. I'll keep playing with Sound Forge 6 and update again later in the week.
 
that noise is probably your computer. u should try to quiet your computer or keep the recording souce as far as possible
 
It could be 60-cycle hum. A power conditioner would help with this, but you might just have old wiring or something that's improperly frounded in your system. Another thing that causes a ton of hum is your computer monitor. I might help to turn it off when you're recording.
