I'm being given a pair of Tannoy S8LR (S8LCR) speakers that are fairly high end home theater speakers (about $1200) by a relative who is upgrading their system. I just have a pair of Maudio BX5s right now, and was wondering if they would be suited for mixing and monitoring, or if they would color the sound too much. Also, they are not powered speakers, so if it was a good idea to use them, what kind of amp should I use? I'm assuming a standard stereo reciever would not be a good choice, but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for anyone who can help me.

Also...to quote the website. All Saturn models use precisely the same Tannoy Dual Concentric™drivers found in Tannoy studio monitors used throughout the recording industry worldwide. Listening to music or watching a film, whatever your taste, the delivery of sound is not just about accuracy, but the emotion.

Get rid of 'em, I'll take 'em off your hands, I'll even pay shipping!

I'd use them both too....

Not sure about the Tannoy's you have in your possesion, but I'm using a pair of Reveals in my studio and LOVE them. I'm running them off of a Hafler TA1600 amp.
