Tannoy Active Reveals or System 1000

I know the system 1000 requires an amp but the frequency response is wider im thinking they would make better monitors.

But im also planning on getting a sub down the track if i go the reveals.

Which would be better: active reveals with a sub or dual concentric system 1000's??

C'mon dont be shy....

Mixit,

Logic tends to say you get what you pay for, and I would imagine the 1000s would be better. There are numerous things that could affect their sound, even A/Bing the two in a store can only be used as a guide.............you really need to try them in your home environment if at all possible, before making a decision.

Generally though are dual cone or concentric better for monitoring because the sound is coming from the same position insted of two different ones as with your typical tweeter woofer type monitor???

There really is no way to make general statements like that. With concentric speakers it's easier to get good phase alignment and hence you will probably get a broader sweetspot, but you get that at the price of having to put the sweeter inside the coil of the woofer and have it radiating through a moving horn, and that will probably have some negative effects. I used a pair of Tannoy Golds (concentric) for some time a very long time ago, and I liked them very much back then.
