I love my Mapex kit.

Tama aint no slouch either.

Either will be just fine.

I like my Tama rockstar kit. I've had it for 15 years. I feel like I get a decent (not awesome) sound. I did replace the snare drum though.

Also like my friend's mapex.

I have a Tama Rockstar too, 13 years. I think it's a great deal for the price. Mapex makes good drums but I'd go with Tama. (yes, i know, biased)
