Pain in the ass
Now that my MX 70 is totally rebuilt and running smoothly my TAC scorpion needs some tweaking. I'm in Cleveland. Anybody know any repair people?

Try Beamish on State Rd. or Empirical. That's just off the top of my head....:D

And, Ken, for cryin' out loud, now that your MX-70 is "totally rebuilt and running smoothly", when do we get to see some updated pictures?? :D:o

Cory, I'll get some pics up soon.
I like Beamish but Dane is so busy it can take months to repair something. Plus it is a 24 x 16 desk in my third floor walk up studio so moving it is a bitch. Haven't had good experiences at Empirical.

What are the issues you are having with the TAC?

Good points, all.
What are the symptoms?
I can ask around here at school...... . . .

Biggest problem is that stuff going into channel 10 comes out on channel nine and stuff that comes in on channel 9 doesn't come out anywhere. Plus the signal on channel 10 (which is controlled by the channel 9 slider) bypasses the preamp and eq. I've switched other channel strips into the 9 and 10 slots and they all do the same thing. Weird. Must be somewhere where the signal hits the board but before the strips. Other than that I want to recap the master channel.

Oh man- that's weird.
Do you have a schematic?

Recapping the master channel should be straight forward enough... as long as it uses discreet components.

Got all the docs. Just don't know how to read them.

Been off the grid in rural KY for the past week. I'll try to post a link. Guido, where are you, I could just bring them over.

Sorry- I've been off the grid too :D

I'm on the West side, in the West Boulevard area.
Where are you?

Guido, I'm on the Eastside in Coventry.

Thanks for the tip on the specialist in England.

Hey! Did you ever find anyone to look at your board?
Did you ever try puling and re-seating the cards/channel strips??

Sorry all. Off the grid again in NY for the past week. I pulled, reseated and switched all the cards in the TAC and problem remains. I think it is something before the channel cards and after the signal input. Could be wrong though....it happened once before.....I thought I was wrong but I wasn't.:)

I think I'm more off than on, myself :p

Anyway, I thought of someone else; Chris Mara. Nice guy. He rebuilds ATRs. He might be able to help. He is in Nashville, but comes to Cleveland a lot.

That's funny. I know Chris really well. He usually calls or stops by when he's up here. I should have thought of asking him.
